I tried it, but to be honest it was kind of mind boggling for me to have something as huge as FL in another DAW, so I stick with the two-DAW process that has worked for me for 10 years or something.Community Guidelines - Resources - Gear Guide - Discord Chat - IRC Chat - 2016 MIXTAPE You need to choose to install it as a VST - it's in the settings somewhere. ![]() I don't know if you are aware of this, but you can actually use FL as a VST instrument in Studio One. I might start a song in Studio One, recording a guitar track and then exporting it as loop sections to work on in FL Studio, or I might start with a beat in FL Studio that I export to work on in Studio One.Īt some point in the process, when I'm done fiddling with synths and MIDI instruments and I'm mostly just doing the vocals and some overdubs, then everything will be funneled into Studio One and I only use that till the songs finished. Same with the patterns - I love quickly creating parts with the piano roll in FL and arranging a whole song like that. People say good things about the piano roll in Studio One, but I'm so used to FL that I feel so slow when I try to use it. I hate mixing in FL tbh - it's so fiddly. ![]() Studio One is so much better at recording and editing audio, as well as mixing. I'm kind 75% audio and 25% programmed instruments in my music. The only things I really miss about FL Studio is the pattern editor and a few of the synths that I loved, like Flex, Sakura and Sytrus. After I got used to it, specially the piano roll, my production and workflow really improved. I love FL and I used it for a long time, but I’m really happy with S1 now. ![]() ![]() Also, because tracks are automatically linked to a mixer channel, you don’t spend time routing every instrument to a channel in the mixer, this is done automatically, unlike in FL. I love FL’s flexibility when it comes to setting up your track list, but I’m disorganized and i get things messy easily, but in S1 it’s a lot easier to keep things clean and organized. It’s also a lot easier to keep things organized in S1. Comping is amazing and it probably makes recording vocals and guitar at least 3 times faster compared to FL (for me), and quick edits in samples like adding fade-ins and outs is really easy. I switched mostly because of recording and honestly it’s a breeze compared to how clunky recording is in FL. I recently switched from FL to S1 and I’m really satisfied with it. Download the demo and give it a try, see if your workflow improves with it.
